The middleware website has been developed to provide access to the various parts of the SmartLab PhD. This includes the laboratory Sensor Observation Service (SOS) and the Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) experimental results review website.
The SOS provides access to both real-time and recalled data from various laboratories and offices within the School of Chemisty. The service follows the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) standard. This describes an API for capturing and presenting data from both static and dynamic sensors.
The SHG experimental website provides access to results collected from the laser experiments run by the Frey Group at the School of Chemistry. These results are displayed as a mashup, using a number of online services to present the data, such as the Simile groups Exhibit and TimeLine tools and the Google chart API.
